FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Yes SnapRabbit™ is listed to ULC-S636 for Type BH venting Class A, B and C in Canada in accordance with B149.1.
Yes. The codes in the USA require a vent system be approved by the appliance manufacturer. For a complete list of SnapRabbit™ approved appliances ask your local ECCO Manufacturing Sales Representative or visit https://eccomfg.com/product-category/venting/ecco-polypropylene-vent-single-wall-rigid-flexible-venting/ for the most up to date approval list.
- Cut rigid wall with a miter box or chop saw assure a square cut and then deburr to assure sharp edges cannot cut gasket.
- Cut flex using a utility/carpet knife. Insert blade into desired groove of the flex pipe and follow entirely around groove until cut is complete
230°F or 110°C
The elbows are designed to give horizontal runs a 3° pitch. The condensing appliances SnapRabbit™ vents can generate up to 50 gallons of condensate per hour. The 3° pitch assures condensates flow out of the system rather than creating backpressure int the vent causing appliance shutdowns.
- Contractors enjoy the speed with which SnapRabbit™ can be installed. It can reduce installation times by as much as 75%
- Engineers, homeowners and contractors appreciate the elimination of VOCs, nauseating fumes and mess created by primers and solvents created by glued systems.
- Homeowners appreciate that their system can be turned on immediately, rather than waiting for the contractor to return after the joint has met its required cure time.
- Gasketed systems allow for movement. This has many benefits
- No creaking glued pipes creaking due to expansion and contraction
- Contractors can install without dry fitting or being concerned with elbow direction, because SnapRabbit™ can be rotated, installed, removed and adjusted as needed.
- The gasket sealed joints expand and contract with weather and and system heat up, so the vent does not flex nor crack.
Locking Clamps are required on all joints in accordance with its ULC-S636 certification.
Yes. Follow the surface preparation requirements of the paint manufacturer.
The manufacturers of SnapRabbit™ and other polypropylene vent have learned from metal vent manufacturers who have had their gaskets destroyed by the salts and acids in condensates. By having a greater pitch, it assures the condensates do not come in contact with the gaskets.
No there are limitations to how SnapRabbit™ Flex can be used. To prevent condensate pooling it must be run vertically and to meet ULC-S636 requirements, it must be installed in a chase.
- Masonry or Prefab Metal Chimneys
- B-Vent
- Gypsum or Sheet Rock walls
- When in a B-vent, L-vent and chimney installs require spacers every 6 feet.
- When in a gypsum or sheetrock chase proper shielding is required per code to protect piercing the pipe with nails, screws or other sharp objects.
SnapRabbit™ flex will easily navigate around offsets that do not exceed 45°. Making SnapRabbit™ Flex an ideal solution for relining B-vent or Chimneys with one or more offsets.
Yes. They can be bundled and have spacers installed or run individual with spacers.
No. SnapRabbit™ vents must be the only thing in the chase. It is acceptable to have adjacent but separate flues built into the same stack configuration, so long as the temperature in SnapRabbit™ chase stays below 300°F.
